Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking Lab Manager candidates for a chemical company located in Baytown TX. The ideal candidate for this position has in-depth knowledge of testing, quality, safety, and Certificates of Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Manage duties, responsibilities, and schedules for Lab Technicians

• Oversee the testing of chemicals for production needs

• Evaluate new processes, lab resources, equipment, software, and instrumentation required

• Maintain lab equipment

• Establish calibration schedule and source vendors for instrumentation calibration

• Train lab personnel

• Create lab documents, instructions, SOP’s, guidelines, etc.

• Correct deficiencies in lab processes

• Evaluate feasibility of new customer product requests

• Write technical documents to support lab evaluations

• Suggest solutions and oversee follow-through for quality issues

• Design formulations to consume off-spec products

• Develop and track lab metrics

• Produce suggestions to improve lab’s performance and efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field

• 7+ years of lab experience

• 5+ years of experience in the chemical industry a plus

• ISO certified a plus

• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner

• Use of critical thinking to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems

• Understands business implications of decisions

• Use training/instructional procedures appropriate for the situation when teaching new things

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Positive and professional attitude, remaining open to others’ ideas and trying new things

This is a Direct Hire opportunity with a Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, work schedule. Pay rate is commensurate upon level of education and applicable experience.
