POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager to oversee vaccine and therapeutic development projects within the National Institutes of Health. The ideal candidate will bring a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, with a Master's degree preferred, coupled with a minimum of five years of experience in the pharmaceutical, vaccine, or biologics industry. This pivotal role involves managing the project plan's development, serving as a key resource on the pharmaceutical product development process, and working collaboratively across teams to refine solutions and advance project goals. The successful candidate will have a solid background in R&D, product development, or GMP manufacturing, with specific experience advancing Phase I/II products to clinical trials. This position demands excellent project management skills, the ability to manage scientific and organizational information, and familiarity with project management software. The Project Manager will play a critical role in facilitating team meetings, resolving conflicts, and continuously collaborating with VRC managers and principal investigators to improve vaccine development and manufacturing processes.

TASKS. The contractor shall:

  • Manage and coordinate the development of project plans for vaccines and therapeutics, ensuring alignment with the pharmaceutical product development process.

  • Facilitate agreement among team members on goals, objectives, and task scheduling.

  • Serve as a resource on biologics and vaccines, providing recommendations and guidance on project advancement.

  • Monitor project status using project management tools, ensuring timely progress and adherence to deadlines.

  • Identify and address emerging issues affecting project tasks, scientific objectives, and activity sequencing.

  • Apply project management practices to guide teams to successful project completion, keeping activities on schedule.

  • Facilitate conflict resolution among team members from diverse organizational groups.

  • Collaborate with VRC managers, laboratory heads, and principal investigators to implement improvements in vaccine development projects.

  • Serve as the team’s information manager, disseminating project information and ensuring effective communication among team members.

  • Prepare inter-agency, academic, and industrial agreements as assigned by the Director of Project Management.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, vaccine, biologics, or related industry.

  • At least 3 years of experience in R&D, product development, or GMP manufacturing; experience advancing Phase I/II products to clinic preferred.

  • Experience working in a product development environment on a cross-functional project team; greater than 2 years in project management preferred.

  • Experience managing scientific and organizational information.

  • At least 2 years’ experience in coordination and planning activities on biologics or vaccine projects.

  • Proficiency in project management software and ability to create effective meeting presentations.

  • Government contracting experience preferred, including SOW writing and financial planning.
