Kelly is seeking a Controller to work with our client, an award-winning privately held healthcare organization, on a direct hire basis! The Controller will:

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the organizational design, recruiting, onboarding, and daily leadership responsibilities adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.

  • Act as a key member of the CFO’s leadership team, collaborating with other members to drive financial initiatives and objectives.

  • Manage the month-end GL close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Oversee the year-end audit process, ensuring clean and timely results

  • Provide strategic thought leadership, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement, efficiencies, and automation of workflows within the accounting department.

  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions.

  • Prepare financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management.

  • Ensure proper systems and procedures for the efficient and effective management of company finances, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.

  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.

  • Provide tax support for the organization by coordinating and overseeing year-end returns, as well as monthly/quarterly filings of local, state, and business franchise taxes.

  • Manage all aspects of treasury operations, including bank accounts, credit card spending, and cash inflows and outflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) preferred

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Accounting experience, including prior experience as a Controller or head of an Accounting department

  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Healthcare experience preferred

  • Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems

  • Experience with Sage ERP a plus

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables

  • Strong problem-solving skills, time management and ability to meet deadlines a must

  • Attention to detail with an ability to spot numerical errors

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to abide by ethical guidelines and policies, including strict adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines

  • Understanding of business principles and practices

  • Familiarity with financial and tax regulations

  • Willingness to continue education and training relevant to the role
