Kelly Services Formulation Scientist in Fitchburg, Wisconsin

Kelly is hiring for a Formulation Scientist position with one of our clients in Madison, WI.

  • Full time- W2

  • First shift 6am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday

  • 6 months contract (May be extended or converted)

  • $22.42/hr

Job Description:

The Scientist I, Formulation will be a member of our operations team responsible for cell-based products and services. This position will be responsible for working with cellular tissue culture to manufacture and harvest hybridoma antibodies. Position requires critical thinking and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize accordingly.

  • Propagate cells to meet customer requirements. Maintain suspension cell culture in a variety of backgrounds utilizing aseptic technique and manufacturing batch records.

  • Work with cell cultures in a bioreactor, including seeding and concentration of antibody by tangential flow filtration.

  • Work in a sterile environment to dispense and cryopreserve cells according to customer specifications.

  • Prepare lab reagents to be used in the screening, provisioning, and MFG work

  • Maintain, track, and order inventory for work orders using internal databases as well as physical inventories to ensure materials are available for use.

  • Maintain documentation including manufacturing batch records, SOPs, and updates to existing documents as processes change. Initiate document control process for major changes and use reporting processes for CAPA/root cause analysis.

  • Support a culture of continuous improvement. Identify opportunities to enhance and execute on process development.

  • An ability to manage multiple projects across numerous technologies ensuring project completion within the allotted timeframe through the utilization of time management, knowledge, and experience.

  • Maintain and support more critical equipment and instruments utilized for product manufacturing, documenting QC and maintenance conducted.

  • Basic suspension cell culture.

  • Support a culture of continuous improvement. Identify opportunities to enhance and execute on process development.

  • Maintain documentation including manufacturing batch records, SOPs, and updates to existing documents as processes change. Initiate document control process for major changes and use reporting processes for CAPA/root cause analysis.

  • An ability to manage multiple projects across numerous technologies ensuring project completion within the allotted timeframe through the utilization of time management, knowledge, and experience.

  • Prepare lab reagents to be used in the screening, provisioning, and MFG work (i.e. uncommon media preps, controlled substances)

  • Maintain, track, and order inventory for assay components using internal databases as well as physical inventories to ensure reagents are available for use.

  • Maintain and support more critical equipment and instruments utilized for product manufacturing, documenting QC and maintenance conducted.

  • Must be able to lift approximately 40 pounds.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related discipline.

  • Experience with suspension cell cultures, preferably mammalian and insect backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret and summarize scientific results

  • Experience working with suspension cell lines in an antibiotic free environment.

  • Experience with bioreactors and use of Tangential Flow Filtration
