Kelly Services Animal Care Technician (ACT) Hollister, CA in Fontana, California
Kelly Science & Clinical is thrilled to present a rewarding opportunity for an Animal Science Technician for this client.. This role involves crucial responsibilities related to animal care, vivarium maintenance, surgical support, and general laboratory assistance. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the health and well-being of laboratory animals and supporting various research activities in the Research Facility in Fontana, CA.
Location: Fontana, CA
Shift: Day Shift -(must be open for additional hours, holidays & weekend work)
Pay: $20/hour DOE
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Animal Care:
Provide basic veterinary care following approved procedures.
Monitor and ensure the overall well-being of laboratory animals.
Supply food, water, and treats to animals.
Inspect and maintain proper functioning of equipment and cages.
Clean and sanitize cages, bedding pans, and enrichment devices.
Vivarium Maintenance:
Proactively manage inventory for animals and vivarium supplies.
Conduct basic exams, sexing, and identification of animals.
Maintain cleanliness of vivarium and adjacent areas.
Coordinate with supervisors and vendors to ensure a vermin-free vivarium.
Surgical and General Laboratory Support:
Prepare surgical packs and sterilize instruments.
Assist in surgical preparations and postoperative monitoring.
Collect blood samples and perform tests as per protocols.
Administer medications and accurately record treatments.
Research Support:
Conduct clinical observations and monitor animal health.
Handle and restrain laboratory animals.
Assist in various research procedures and surgeries.
Additional Duties:
Clean and store laboratory glassware and equipment.
Sterilize equipment and maintain laboratory cleanliness.
Provide feedback on safety issues or deviations from accepted practices.

Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor work with intermittent moderate to loud noise.
Minimal travel involved.

Stand for prolonged periods, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
Vision abilities include close and color vision.
