Kelly Engineering is currently seeking an experienced Turnaround coordinator for the Dow site in Fort Saskatchewan, AB!

Title: Turnaround coordinator

Location: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta T8L 2P4

Contract Length: 12 - 18 months plus

Schedule: 4/10 (Monday to Thursday) + Overtime

Job description:

The Turnaround Coordinator implements Global Turnaround Methodology to execute turnarounds on time, within budget, to meet operational reliability needs and minimize long-term cost of ownership. This role creates value by providing the Company's Businesses with Best-in-Class Turnaround performance with respect to EH&S, asset utilization, and preparation, execution and closure costs through the proper application of Platinum and Global Turnaround Methodology and the corresponding best practices.

Purpose of Turnaround Coordinator

Responsible for planning and executing all phases of the turnaround (planning, pre-work, shutdown, and post-work).

The Turnaround Coordinator is the tactical leader during the turnaround outage ensuring that Operations, Maintenance and Projects are working together towards turnaround goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage work inventory size, job scope, timing and progress as the inventory is processed thru planning, purchasing, and scheduling.

  • Ensures job plans adhere to Dow EH&S Standards and local regulations and standards that are legally required or more stringent than Dow EH&S Standards

  • Utilizes the Elevated Work Access Selection Tool for identification of safe, alternate means of access to reduce worker risk.

  • Work with planners on job step sequences and confirm parts order accuracy. Assist planners in improving job scope and collecting critical documentation needed to complete the job package. Assists in completing job plans and packages as needed. A job package in SAP includes identification of crafts, tools, equipment, materials, and services needed for Dow or contract craftsmen to safely complete the job.

  • Work with the scheduler to optimize the job execution sequencing and resource loading. For sold out plants, identify and optimize the duration of the top 2 to 3 critical path job sequences (can be one large PM Order or multiple linked PM orders). For non-sold-out plants, develop the schedule to conserve cost.

  • Review work requests for the necessary information and detailed job scope to ensure a value-added work order was provided. Visits the job site to obtain information necessary to plan and execute the scope of the repair request or PPM service request.

  • Consult Subject Matter Experts (SME's) and published Most Effective Technology (MET) to gather needed information to plan and complete the work.

  • Developing and promoting a culture of safety with all parties involved in any turnaround activity.

  • Attends and/or facilitates safety tailgate meetings and participates in Behavior Based Safety programs.

  • Ensures job packets and schedules are given to craft resource focal points prior to work start date. Conduct job walks with craft resource focal points to confirm deliverables, time, and resource commitments.

  • Verify all materials have arrived, are tagged, or labeled with the PM order#. Ensure materials are staged at the job site or in a parts trailer working together with material coordinator.

  • Ensure field work is progressing safely & productively. Check on work crews to ensure they have needed resources and materials (tools, job packet, procedures, parts, PPE, barricades, permits, etc.) to perform the job safely and efficiently.

  • Coordinate maintenance/contractor/operations activities and resolve any issues that delay the start and completion of activities.

  • Provides corrective action alternatives for schedule, cost, procurement and/or work instruction deviations.

  • Maintains and regularly updates the WIT (Work Inventory Tool) for portions of the spreadsheet assigned to the TA Coordinator.

  • Manage contractor, shared services, direct labor resources during all phases of the turnaround to control the budget and achieve the turnaround RTO date.

Experience

Journeyman Certificate

Minimum 5 Years Industrial Maintenance

Powerplant experience preferred.
