Research and Development Chemist (Organic Chemistry)

Kelly Science has immediate needs for a R&D Chemist within the Organic Synthesis department who will plan and performs laboratory synthesis and experimentation as required to support troubleshooting of plant upsets, process improvement to existing processes, and new products development.

Location: Georgetown SC

Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Fully onsite

Salary Range: $80,000-$110,000/year

Responsibilities

• Plan and set up laboratory equipment for experiments and evaluations

• Perform literature research as required (SciFinder, STN, USPTO, Espacenet)

• Perform laboratory experiments and evaluations in a safe and effective manner

• Analyze data from experiments and evaluations, and make recommendations and conclusions based on this analysis

• Document experimental work and results, and prepare technical reports as directed

• Develop of new pathway of synthesis for existing or new products

• Develop new products in new applications.

• Identify and characterize anomalies that cause off spec production and deviation from statistical control

• Interpret analytical results to management

• Define the physical, chemical and specifications properties for new raw materials

• Report laboratory activities and project status

• Capable to understand and to interpreter properly analytical data (GC, HPLC, GPC, FT-IR, UV-Vis, TGA, DSC, AA, NMR)

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Chemistry (Organic Synthesis) is required

• Previous experience within a Synthesis Laboratory is required

• PhD Degree in Chemistry (Organic Synthesis) is desirable
