Job Description

QA Manager ensures that all products are safe, effective and meet quality requirements and intended purpose before made available for sale. This role is also responsible to ensure that the procedures carried out in the production facility are in compliance with NHPD, Australian TGA and USFDA GMP requirements, as well as CFIA and USP (verified product) and Organic requirements, while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.

  • Manage the following staff: QA Inspectors, QA Specialists, Trainer/SOP Coordinator and QA Engineer

  • Ensure batch documents including manufacturing documents, packaging documents, and quality control testing documents are complete, reviewed and in compliance with specifications prior to release (performed by QA Specialists)

  • Ensure in-process testing in manufacturing and packaging are performed as required (performed by QA Inspectors)

  • Packaging Components specification approval, testing and release of all packaging materials (performed by QA Inspector)

  • Label Control – approval of proofs and printed labels, and QA release. (performed by QA Specialists)

  • Finished good release (performed by QA Specialists)

  • Environmental Monitoring: Pest Control, Temperature and Humidity Monitoring, Air Quality Sampling (performed by various Quality personnel )

  • NCI/CAPA repaorting, investigation, approval and Trend analysis including Process Deviation, Annual Product Quality Review (AUS), Quality Risk Management (AUS)

  • Complaints investigations when requested

  • Re-work review and approval

  • Communication and interaction on production related issues

  • GMP Training Program and SOP Program - oversee the Documentation Coordinator responsible for the GMP training and SOP maintenance

  • Observe and enforce all company and department safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions

  • Maintain master batch records and retention samples for archival

  • Internal Audits (perform and follow-up on corrective actions)

  • Responsible for ensuring staff follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as other work procedures (WP) and company policies

Requirements

  • University Degree or equivalent Technical Diploma in a suitable Science or associated discipline

  • 5 – 10 years of progressive industry experience preferably in a supervisory or management position in Quality Operations within pharmaceutical, dietary supplement or related industry

  • Superior GMP knowledge and experience (Health Canada, FDA, TGA and ISO)

  • Demonstrated aptitude for utilization of common tools for process evaluation and analysis, root cause determination and CAPA (SPC, FMEA, MSA, 8-D, etc.)

  • Demonstrated project management skills an asset

  • Additional certification applicable to the role (such as provided by ASQ) an asset

  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge and application of Lean principles (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) an asset
