Kelly Services Quality Control Technician in La Porte, Texas

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently recruiting candidates for a Quality Control (QC) Technician position at a specialty chemical manufacturing facility located in LaPorte, TX.

As a Quality Control (QC) Technician you will analyze raw materials, intermediates, and final products to ensure compliance with material specifications and regulatory and customer requirements. This position provides technical assistance to internal customers, operations, and other plant personnel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and test samples to determine the quality of raw material, in -process samples and final products.

  • Enter data into computer systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair QC lab equipment, including calibrations

  • Always follow good housekeeping practices

  • Prepare and communicate documents and results of sample analysis

  • Attend all safety meetings and training sessions

  • Participate in product work off assignments

  • Must have sufficient experience and expertise to work without supervision.

  • Participate in investigations pertaining to both EHS incidents as well as non-conforming material

  • Review and update procedures as needed Maintain lab inventories as needed

Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-year Associates degree in technical program/BS degree in Chemistry/Science preferred.

  • 2 years of experience in a chemical laboratory setting

  • Experience testing materials for physical properties (e.g., density, pH, viscosity, etc.)

  • Experience conducting wet analysis (e.g., acid number, cloud point, etc.)

  • Laboratory experience in analytical instrumentation (GC, HPLC, FTIR, etc.)

  • Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas. Understand and be able to complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into laboratory computer programs

  • Writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures

  • Calibrating and performing routine maintenance on instruments (e.g., GCs, titrators, etc.)

  • Performing all tests and lab work following industry standards for personal safety and hygiene

  • Communicating efficiently in written and verbal forms

  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience required

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays

Job Details Summary

  • Contract-to-Hire

  • Training shift hours: Monday-Friday, 1 st shift

  • Regular shift hours: 12 hour rotating dupont shift schedule

  • Pay rate: $26.00
