Kelly Services Principal Robotics Controls Engineer in Marion, North Carolina

Principal Controls Engineer

  • Location : (ONSITE) - Marion, NC (28752)

  • Duration : 6+ month contract - (Expectation for contract extension)

  • Type: W2 contract (NO C2C OR THIRD PARTY)

  • Pay: Negotiable depending on direct-related experience

The Principal Controls Engineer is tasked with providing analysis of plant manufacturing capacity, process optimization, and automation, VIP identification and implementation, process validation planning/execution using lean manufacturing techniques and other problem-solving tools.

Proven professional experience in machine design, AutoCAD, and PLC programming, troubleshooting, and project management is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops or participates in the development of solutions to problems specific to assigned project.

  • Participates in continuous improvement projects.

  • Works with manufacturing and other functional groups on manufacturing regulatory compliance issues.

  • Writes and/or executes, and reports on validation activities.

  • Performs NCR/CAPA investigations and tasks.

  • Establish and control capital operating budgets for projects.

  • Provide leadership and drive innovation within the plant.

  • Assist in the design, installation and start-up of new equipment and systems as required.

Required:

  • Strong accountability and ownership.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills.

  • Knowledgeable in the practice and execution of validation protocols.

Skills/Experience:

  • PLC : Allen-Bradley Control Logix, AB500, Safety PLCs

  • HMI : Allen-Bradley

  • Communication: Understanding of TCP/IP networks, RS-232 interfaces, Profibus communication, Fieldbus and HSSB

  • Electrical : Hands on troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, understanding of Category 3 Safety Systems, E-Plan P8, AutoCAD, ability to read /draw schematics

  • Familiarity with drives (such as servo and VFD) motion control, encoders, hydraulics, and pneumatics

  • Robotics : Fanuc, Yaskawa

  • Vision Systems : Cognex, Keyence

  • Programming (Bonus) : C#, C++, VB, SQL Server

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering required (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering preferred)

  • 7 – 10 years’ experience in a similar role with Rockwell PLC experience

  • Experience in a regulated industry

  • Servo control systems (Rockwell, Yaskawa)
