Quality Inspection Technician – Prototype Engineering

3 month contract opportunity with competitive pay!

We are currently looking for a Prototype Engineering Quality Inspection Technician (Level 2 or higher) to join our team in Novi, Michigan.

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Inspector in Prototype Engineering is responsible for inspecting parts and materials provided to Nissan for pre-production vehicles and test activities, for domestic and international locations, and to assist engineers on special requests for inspection. The inspector ensures the end user receives parts made to design intent Quality and Engineering standards. The goal is to obtain the best possible parts to support both in-house and outside vehicle builds and test properties. Inspection documents of parts must be maintained and communicated to globally located Nissan engineering locations. Communications involve documents of detailed part measurements as needed.

Job Functions include but are not limited to:

• Inspection of incoming parts using hand tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to measure and verify accuracy of the part condition relative to the design intent

• Interface with QA Engineers to communicate part discrepancies

• First line communication with design and test engineers

• Work to target deadlines

• Scan documents for paperless filing

• Read & interpret 2D and 3D drawings and CAD images

• Utilize computer programs (user capability NX and mainframe software)

• Performs various support functions in engineering related assignments

• Review and load design deviation documents into online databases

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma. Minimum two years of metrology experience

• Self-starter – must be capable of managing own workload (key)

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (key)

• Computer skills ability is highly desirable, (minimum experience demonstrates capability to learn)

• Ability to work without direct supervision

• Ability to work quickly on the occasions necessary

• Proficiency in math is a must

• Automobile parts understanding is advantageous

• Friendly, cooperative, and uplifting personality

Advance Capabilities a plus:

• CAD capability, preferably NX and Spacevision

• Operation of CMM and 3D scanning equipment

• Proficiency in part set-up

• Fluent in GD&T

• Bilingual skills in Spanish or Japanese

• Familiarity with parts quality and specifications
