Kelly Services Blending and Packaging Operator in Plant City, Florida

Kelly Services has partnered with a local food manufacturing facility and is seeking a Blending and Packaging Operator in Plant City, Florida!

1st Shift 6am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday

$15/hr

Forklift Operating Experience required

The primary responsibility of the Blending and Packaging Operator is to manufacture the Company's products ensuring they meet food safety and food quality requirements while meeting the customers needs. The Blending and Packaging Operator works closely with other departments, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Warehouse and Materials Management throughout the day.

Duties consist of the following:

  • Complete machine ownership by performing scheduled preventative maintenance

  • Monitoring process flow ability, safety, and quality issues

  • Sets up and controls the operation of the production line.

  • Utilizes basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical theory in performing assignments

  • Operates common hand or power tools

  • Suggests methods for improving production equipment, processes, or operating conditions.

BASIC REQUIRMENTS:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of food manufacturing experience.

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in the English language.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills needed to maximize job efficiency.

  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.

  • Must be able stand for prolonged periods of times, up to 12 hours.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with the possibility of minor dusting from the processing of food products is required.

  • Must be computer literate; be able to perform basic data entry into computer software - ERP system and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations (i.e. percentages, fractions, etc.).

  • Must be able to operate and read scales in pounds, grams and kilograms.

  • Must be able to follow good manufacturing practices, work safely and achieve results in a team environment.

  • Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment.

  • Must have mobility in all areas of the plant including confined spaces.

  • Must be able to be punctual and meet expectations for regular attendance.

  • Must have attention to detail and be able to perform several tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to frequently fill and empty 55 gallon drums and mtek boxes.

  • Understand basic physical properties of raw materials and intermediates used.

  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift and be able to attend forklift training course.

  • Must be able to safely dispense and use chemicals while using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend all Safety, Health and Environmental Training as required, and participate in the company's Eye for Safety, Quality and Environmental Programs.

  • Maintain proper appearance, such as keeping uniform neat, clean, shirt tucked in. Always wear clean clothes without buttons (No sleeveless shirts or short pants) clean hair net, beard net and gloves (changing frequently).

  • Responsible for washing and sanitizing production equipment according to specifications.

  • Ability to suggest methods for improving production or operating conditions, continuous improvement.

  • Assist with all aspects of production, to include, but not limited to assisting the dehydration staff when need dictates.

  • Participate on-the-job training and gain knowledge of the Fitzpatrick mill, line loading, stacking and blending procedures.

  • Read, understand, and follow manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures and special instructions.

  • Operate manufacturing equipment, including the blender, and Fitzpatrick mill

  • Understand basic function and operation of associated utilities including, scales, label printers, discharge valves, pallet wrapper and sealer.

  • Responsible for mixing batches of dry crystals accurately and timely.

  • Follow and monitor all Food Safety and Quality control points and complete documentation for required quality checks.

  • Responsible for successfully completing inventory transactions in ERP System.

  • Understand basic physical properties of ingredients used in blending.

  • Follow supervisors instructions and be open to providing and receiving feedback for improvement.

  • Understand all Job Safety Hazards and comply with all department and plant Safety, GMP, Sanitation, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for operating and monitoring multiple pieces of equipment at a time.

  • Keep accurate and detailed records and complete required logs.

  • Maintain timely completion of tasks to ensure high standards for customer service.

  • Must be willing and flexible to work other shifts to meet the business needs.

  • Interact with other members of the team to ensure communication is effective and consistent.

  • Other duties as assigned.
