Kelly Services Fabrication Shop Planner in Plaquemine, Louisiana

The SIS Fabrication Shop Planner is responsible for ensuring quality job plans are created for maintenance / fabrication of equipment sent to the central shop. This entails created detailed job packages, updating task lists and updating existing plans if changes are made in scope or design.

Daily job duties include:

  • Receive job and work orders from plants; Review and contact requestor for any clarifications needed to plan work.

  • Send drawings to outside shops for bids & talk with vendors so they clearly understand needs

  • Receive bid from vendor, review and choose the most cost efficient bid and one that can meet our needs then send to requestor for approval

  • Receive approval from requestor if cost exceeds certain thresh-holds using the purchase requisition tool

  • Complete letter of transmittal & gather all documentation to send to vendor once job is approved.

  • Send third party inspector for inspection at outside shop

  • Issue paint tickets (form w/ drawings attached) to paint yard with proper documentation

  • Scan job (transmittal & paint ticket etc..) and file in plant folder

  • Send Emergency job to appropriate vendor that can meet our need; Work to with vendor to coordinate emergency work and communicate with requestor.

  • Send vendor proper delivery & contact info for E jobs

  • Relay scope changes on job to vendor

  • Verify parts are here and goods receipt has been entered for requester

  • Serve as a Technical advisor with requesters, looking at pictures, drawings etc & give advice on what can or cannot be done per plant spec

  • Receive unofficial MST -Material Specification Transmittal- from pipe designer, send out for pricing, receive bid & send to pipe designer for approval

  • Receive official MST for fabrication & request DOA to process; Once DOA is received, scan bid & create REQ# attached to bid

  • Review drawing & get spool count entered in folder; track % of errors per vendor of pipe spools

  • Receive marked up plant drawing and cut sheet & give hard copy to contactor & place electronic copy in plant folder

  • Receive third party inspector reports, and file in proper equipment documentation location

  • Schedule delivery of pipe for project per request

  • Meet with project group on upcoming jobs as needed

  • Ensure long delivery parts for fabrication, valves, fittings, etc., are stocked

  • Go to outside shop to QC special fabrication emergency jobs as needed

  • Back up for machine shop Planner / order parts, make packages, send out material for repair
