Manufacturing Manager Cell Culture - San Diego, CA


This individual will manage the in-house manufacturing of our cell culture supplements in a cGMP environment. Candidate must be able to train on and consistently follow standard operating procedures and have at least one year of lab management experience. We are looking for a proven performer who is process oriented, meticulous, self-motivated and has ample experience in biologics or cell culture manufacturing. Ideally, candidate has some cell culture bench experience. This individual will assist with cGMP related activities such as equipment calibration, validation and creation of batch/production records. This person will also assist with inventory management of raw materials, consumables and finished product at this location.


Manufacturing duties

  • Operate consistently within cGMP guidelines

  • Train and ultimately teach on production SOPs

  • Follow production schedule to meet specified volume requirements

  • Assist with quality control testing (stem cell culture may be involved)

Raw materials, consumables and asset management

  • Inventory management of raw materials and consumables used in manufacturing

  • Upkeep of equipment (validation, calibration etc)

  • Final product inventory

Assist with cGMP compliance requirements

  • Writing/editing SOPs

  • Producing batch and production records

Manufacturing method optimization

  • Work with the team to optimize and validate manufacturing process changes

Management Duties

  • Manage small team in a laboratory setting

  • Manage projects while interacting with other departments


  • BS/BA in Physiology/Cell Biology a plus.


  • Requires 3-5 years experience in biologics or cell culture manufacturing

  • cGMP manufacturing experience a must; biologics preferred

  • Prior experience in stem cell culture a plus

  • Requires one year of lab management experience


  • Proven manufacturing/process development experience

  • Strong experience in cGMP manufacturing

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain productive working relationships

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with Company guidelines

  • Strong process mindset


  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems; ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives


  • Ability to hear and speak to employees and external associates on the phone and in person.

  • Ability to see the letters and numbers on a personal computer screen and on memos, reports and other documents (near vision)
