CP Technical Specialist - Santa Fe Springs, CA.

Kelly Scientific Resources is seeking a Laboratory Technician for an Industrial company in the Santa Fe Springs area.


Pay Rate: $15-16/hr DOE

Monday - Friday; 1st shift 7:00AM-3:30PM (Must have schedule flexibility)


  • To lead and assist the production manager, production supervisor and production engineer with the daily management and tracking of precious metals within the Chemical Products department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (other duties may be assigned as required):

  • Monitor the metal needs of the department and the supply availaibility to support production.

  • Assist the production supervisor and production engineer with asset scheduling and SAP tracking of production batches.

  • Perform SAP transactions required by the Chemical Products department to process material and Transfer products between accounting locations.

  • Support production by generating adjustment sheets for making in specification final products from semi finished production materials.

  • Support the packaging and shipping of CP products by creating and managing Certificates of Analysis from reported laboratory data.

  • Create new SAP material numbers as required by business and transfer to the finance department for costing these materials.

  • Have a general working knowledge of all processes in Chemical Products and how metal control impacts these processes.

  • Assist production manager, production supervisor and production engineer in providing and updating department documentation and procedures.

  • Monitor and report on production yield data for department production processes.

  • Monitor and report on precious metal turnover and tracking within the Chemical Products department.

  • Manage and track the Chemical Product departments generation and reconciliation of precious metal endpoints.

  • Assist production manager, production supervisor and production engineer in minimizing precious metal inventory as a function of sales within the department.

  • Facilitate the continuous improvement of the precious metal planning, tracking, and control systems within the Chemical Products Department. Propose new methods and concepts to the managment team when needed.


  • Responsible for preparing the weekly production cokpit charts.

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting information about process yields within the department to the Production Manager.

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting information about precious metal movements and locations within the department to the Production Manager.

  • Responsible for transferring precious metal from the vault to CP Production including all required SAP transactions.

  • Responsible for issuing production batch tickets as required to support production orders.

  • Responsible for closing out production orders (TECO) after completion of manufacturing and fulfillment of customer shipments.

  • Responsible for preparing Certificates of Analysis for products shipping to customers

  • Responsible for immediate notification of the Production Manager of any anomalies in the management of the precious metal within the department.


  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • BS in Chemistry

  • Wet Chemistry/ CP: 2 + years experience in Analytical Chemistry, preferably in Precious Metals analysis.
