Kelly Services Manufacturing Process Technician in Skokie, Illinois

Kelly Engineering Resources has an outstanding direct hire opportunity for an experience Sr. Process Technician with large part Blow Molding experience . You would be joining a family owned manufacturer of large, thick walled plastic containers and sheets. This role will be hands on, at their extrusion blow molding facility in the north suburbs. Due to growth, we are searching for 1 process technician for each shift (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, Saturday is rotated amongst the team.

You will be responsible for equipment set up, process startup, process and equipment shutdown as well as tool changeovers, machine PM's, process trouble shooting and minor equipment repairs.

Essential Responsibilities of the Process Technician:

\t

  • Perform set-ups, start-ups and shut-downs as needed\t

  • Perform color changes as needed\t

  • Monitor and control product weight, product color and product part thickness\t

  • Reduce mold change and set-up time\t

  • Optimize machine cycle times\t

  • Troubleshoot and repair minor hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues, call maintenance for major issues.\t

  • Calibrate head tooling and clamps\t

  • Service the blenders\t

  • Develop and document molding processes assuring their continuity\t

  • Minimize molding defects through process improvements and the implementation of a formal corrective action process\t

  • Collaborate with other departments on sample testing and documentation\t

  • Meet or exceed continuous improvement goals and objectives, under direction or through offering ideas that can improve yields, reduce start up times, or reduce defects, etc.\t

  • Provide training for production personnel on proper processing procedures\t

  • Maintain established housekeeping standards and support lean manufacturing practices\t

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications of the Successful Process Technician:

\t

  • High school diploma or equivalent\t

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in either profile extrusion or thick walled blow molding is required. Experience should include:\t\t\t

  • basic process knowledge, process machine triggers for tooling and inserts, etc.\t\t

  • knowledge of the appropriate process adjustments to compensate for temperature, humidity and first piece defects.\t\t\t

  • Technically sound and hands-on in troubleshooting molding process issues\t

  • Mold set-up experience with a preventive maintenance background\t

  • Ability to use sound judgment and to prioritize workload\t

  • Strong written and communication skills. Bilingual candidate (Spanish/English) is a plus\t

  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices – desired\t

  • Basic Microsoft suite computer skills required for documentation and communication with other departments.\t

  • Forklift qualified
