Now Hiring: Agricultural General Supervisor

  • Position Title: General Supervisor

  • Location: Wahiawa, Hawaii

-Job Type: Direct Hire

  • Department: Agricultural Operations

  • Pay Rate: $68,000 annually

Under the direction of the Manager, Agriculture, the General Supervisor supervises operating departments including land preparation, planting, irrigation, spray, harvesting, packing, shipping, and agricultural engineering.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION

  • Supervises land preparation activities, including plowing, disking, subsoiling, and field clearing, ensuring accuracy in block layouts and adherence to soil conservation and drainage specifications.

  • Oversees the laying of mulch, application of soil fumigants, fertilizers, and fungicides.

  • Manages the installation of irrigation systems, including drip and overhead sprinkler setups, along with the application of fertilizers, chlorine, and pesticides.

  • Coordinates boom spray applications, as well as all weed control activities.

  • Supervises field activities such as fresh fruit harvesting, packing, transportation, and oversees processing and shipping operations.

  • Generates and administers operating schedules and estimates.

  • Assists with budget development and administration, participating in cost control programs to meet budget goals.

  • Contributes to research program development and ensures compliance with agricultural practices.

  • Ensures compliance with the collective bargaining agreement as per company policies.

  • Maintains safe working conditions, develops and implements safety programs, and conducts regular safety meetings.

  • Undertakes special research and development projects as assigned.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY, EXPERIENCE)

  • Required:3 - 5years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in an agricultural environment.

-Preferred: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong leadership ability, and the capability to supervise, motivate, and train employees effectively.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural discipline or five years progressively responsible supervisory experience.

  • Certified Pesticide Applicators License, Categories 1, 2 (fumigation), and 3 (chemigation).

  • Valid driver’s license required.

EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

  • Supervises field and fresh fruit workers.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to tolerate outdoor working conditions.

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
